Deacon Michael Turner was ordained in the Sacramento Diocese in June of 2014. He is a retired Highway Patrolman of 29 years and Army Military Police for 3 ½ years before that. He and his wife, Barbara, married in 1973 had five children and moved to Rocklin in 1984. They now have 7 grandchildren.
St. Rose became their home immediately with all children graduating from the school. All the children and two of their grandchildren have served in one capacity or another at St. Rose Church as altar servers, lectors, choir members, extra ordinary ministers to the altar, religious ed instructors, and life teen core members.
Deacon Mike continues ministry with serving on the altar, Baptisms, and funeral liturgies. His passion for the poor and homeless remains relentless as he continues work with St. Vincent de Paul as their current spiritual director, and he and Barbara take mission trips to 4th world countries. As a couple, the Turners, remain committed to religious education, teaching RCIA and helping out where needed. They are also the Bereavement Counselor trainers for the Diocese of Sacramento.
As members of Placer People of Faith and the Solidaridad at St. Rose they are educated on and seek social justice for all people.
Probably the ministry that most touches their hearts is the Journey in the Spirit Ministry where they are privileged to witness people when they are scared, sad, lonely, sick, and dying.
As Charismatic Catholics and Cursillitas they pray for the guidance and the grace of the Holy Spirit to do only that which God wants them to do.
