The Stewardship Way of Life
In Baptism, each of us received a call to follow Jesus and imitate His way of life. This is our individual
"Call to Discipleship." Stewardship is the action we take in response to this call. This action is based on
the recognition that everything we are and everything we have is a gift from God. We are the recipients and
caretakers of God’s many gifts. Stewardship is our responsible return to God - generously, sacrificially, and
proportionately - of the gifts He has given to us.
At Saint Rose of Lima Parish, we firmly believe that Stewardship is a way of life. As Christian stewards,
we receive God’s gifts gratefully, cherish and tend them in a responsible and accountable manner, share them
in justice and love with others, and return them with increase to the Lord.
Our community is a living example of discipleship, as our parishioners actively offer their time and talent
to numerous parish and community ministries. We are also committed to a responsible use of our treasure.
The parish tithes ten percent of our income to a number of charitable organizations including The Lazarus
Project, Placer Care Coalition, Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Social Justice Advocates of Placer County,
What Would Jesus Do, Inc., Calvary Youth Center, Community Ministries, Loaves and Fishes, Sacramento Life
Center, SUCCEED, Wellspring, Women’s Center, and Chiapas, Mexico.
The Four Pillars
As called out in our mission statement, stewardship at Saint Rose of Lima
is sustained by four pillars. All of our ministries, programs, and organizations are aligned with these pillars:
Sacred Liturgy, Education, Community of Faith, and Peace & Social Justice.
Sacred Liturgy - Liturgia - We worship God through Word and Sacrament.
Liturgy is described as the summit toward which all activity of the Church is directed and the source from which we
derive our faithfulness as disciples of Christ. All parishioners of Saint Rose of Lima are invited to
participate in our Sacred Liturgy.
Education - Kerygma - Go out to the whole world and preach the Good News.
The tradition of Catholic Education, in its many expressions, respects the sacred quality of life as an expression of
the God who reveals. We teach and announce the Good News through a number
of educational programs.
Community of Faith - Koinonia - We are present to one another for the common good.
We contribute to building the Kingdom of God by engaging people in all life stages and providing opportunities for
involvement that promote the common good of our parish and community. As members of this Stewardship Parish, all
parishioners are invited to live the Stewardship Way of Life through
various offerings of time and talent.
Peace & Social Justice - Diaconia - "If you want peace, work for justice." -Pope John Paul II
All life is sacred. Social Justice calls us to celebrate the glory of God’s creation, to proclaim human rights, and to
care for those who cannot sustain themselves. We support and encourage involvement in
our community organizations.
